On the Problem of the Relation of Philosophical Theories and Spiritual Praxis in Buddhism

Sometime ago (1976) I published a paper on the Problem of the Relation of Philosophical Theories and Spiritual Praxis in Buddhism. As far as the Yogacara-Vijnanavada tradition is concerned, I argued that the theory was developed in the context of to meditative practice. This prompted some critics to offer different theories. Here I will discuss my continuing reasons for upholding my original ideas in a modified form, considering the background within the world of Buddhist thought and practice.
